Summary/Abstract: The osteological remains of the animals studied come from the archaeological excavations carried out between 1981-1985 by D. Şerbănescu at the locality of Ghergălăul Mare, situated to the south-west of Vlădiceasca village, Valea Argovei commune, dep. Calarasi. From a stratigraphic point of view, the Boian-Vidra level is at the base of the tell; it is covered by Gumelniţa levels (A1, A2, B1) and at the top by a La Tène level. The osteological remains of domestic animals are predominant compared to the remains of wild animals. Cattle are best represented as NR and as NMI; they are followed by ovaprins and pigs. The age of slaughter suggests a mixed farm, for meat and for secondary products of cattle; ovaprin, on the other hand, were especially high for secondary products. By all these peculiarities of the animal economy, Vlădiceasca is situated between the Boian-Giuleşti and Boian-Spanţov type sites; this observation thus joins the temporal reality.
