Summary/Abstract: The learning environment does not only imply a physical learning environment. It implies social and emotional conditions, as well as the conditions that enable the cognitive and physical development of students. When we want to create an environment that is physically, psychologically and socially safe, it is necessary to take into account materials, tasks, situations, and the schedule of learning seating. In reality, the physical, psychological and social environment often overlaps and interacts with one another. When we talk about the physical learning environment, it often plays an important role in the learning process that takes place in the combined classes. Students’ behavior and their engagement in the combined classes are influenced by the size of the classroom, the organization of sitting and retirement schedules, the availability of learning materials (learning resources) etc. The 21 century learning environment envisages the place where students work in groups, they collaborate and move through the classroom according the activities and tasks, and the interaction takes place, both with the teacher and through the competent contacts inside the class and within the classes.
