Summary/Abstract: The paper is concerning the research area of the implementation of innovation management which is a project of organizational change supported by the change management approach. As the main course of the organizations is continuous development and reinforcement of the position on the market, the awareness of the importance of innovation management has increased. The positive impact on innovation process effectiveness is the main reason for which the managers decide to implement innovation management formally. The implementation can be treated as an organizational change that encompasses both project and change management assumptions during the initial phase. The first approach is primarily responsible for structuring the project, while the second one relates to the emotional aspect and is designed to minimize any possible negative feelings of employees connected with an organizational change. As a result of the initial phase, the whole enterprise management system should be properly prepared for innovation management implementation. The cognitive objective of this paper includes the description of innovation management parts and an investigation of the relations between innovation, project and change management. At the same time in the area of application goal achievement, the article provided a basic guidelines to proceedings during the preparation phase, that can be applied during the project implementation of innovation management.
