Transborder dimension of cohesion policy – co-operation network in the Polish-Slovak borderland

Summary/Abstract: Due to the recognition of its important role, European territorial cooperation since 2007 has been the third objective of the EU’s cohesion policy. The aim of this paper was to identify the character of transborder co-operation on the local level in the Polish-Slovak borderland with a special focus on the transborder relations network. To this end, co-operation co-financed under Poland-Slovak Republic Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007- -2013 in the framework of ETC was analyzed. In this study, all realized projects and all beneficiaries, i.e. 109 projects and 244 Polish and Slovak institutions, were examined. The research revealed that the co-operation network was poorly developed. However, the most important nodes in this network were clearly visible.
