Cooperation between enterprises in the Warsaw-Lodz functional area − factors and effects

Summary/Abstract: The presented paper focuses on the determinants of cooperation between enterprises in the Warsaw-Lodz functional area. It discusses factors, areas, effects and barriers to cooperation between enterprises. The second part of the paper presents the results of empirical research conducted among 150 small and medium-sized enterprises, operating in the area characterised by relatively high intensity of cooperation between enterprises, concerning contacts in the field of knowledge and information flow, the acquisition of specialists and the establishment of joint ventures. This cooperation brings beneficial financial and innovationrelated effects. However, it faces barriers that impair the benefits of cooperation.
