Italian dance culture

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research is to study the general and specific characteristics of Italian dance culture. This article highlights the traditions of the Italian dance culture. It presents folklore groups in Italy and their impact on modern folk dance. Methodology. The author uses such research methods as comparative-historical, logical and theoretical analysis. The systematic approach to study a folk dance of Italian culture has been implemented in this article. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty are the identification of the characteristic types of Italian dance culture, and the definition of specific types of performances – authentic ensemble. Conclusions. The information about historical dance traditions has been summarized by the author. The research sources in this work have scientific and practical significance to the study of cultural history of Italy. The choreography of the region in the used writings has not been properly reviewed yet. Italian folk dance that incorporates the features of the national character is really unique. The theoretical approach may be used in the educational process of educational institutions and curriculum of discipline “Staged folk dance”.
