Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the agrarian reform conducted in the Second Polish Republic mainly in socio-political context, as socio-political situation was what prompted the reform. According to the research done, the agrarian reform was induced mainly by socio-political factors rather than economic ones. The Author dares say that there would have been no reform if it had not been for the political turmoil in Europe at the time (World War I and the October Revolution in Russia), which triggered the explosion of social unrest. It seems that, by addressing social expectations of rebellious peasants, the agrarian reform was the price to pay for their appeasement, which was necessary in order to avoid potential destabilization of the newly established Polish state.
