Summary/Abstract: The border region of Serbia to Bulgaria covers the territory of nine municipalities in eastern and southern Serbia along the border with Bulgaria. The are 438 settlements with a total of 250679 inhabitants (2008) in the border area. In this paper, with a short review of the historical and political-geographical component, contains a complex analysis of demographic potential of demographic processes and basic demographic characteristics of the population of the border area.
