Summary/Abstract: Mobile devices are gaining in popularity. For some time, mobile phones have served us not only for making phone calls and writing text messages but also for using various types of applications. These applications allow us to make purchases on our phone, perform banking operations accessing our account, check the weather and enjoy entertainment. Modern applications are easy to use, cheap, intuitive, and increasingly more advanced. They provide a very wide range of possibilities for devices on which they are used. Growing Internet access and popularity of smartphones and mobile applications are therefore closely related. The aim of the paper is to describe and analyse the market of mobile applications and to present case studies of companies that have achieved unquestionable success in this market.
