Professional titles in the field of library and information activities in the Republic of Serbia

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the legal provisions in Serbian library legislation on which library workers can develop their career. In Serbia every librarian, depending on the extent of their education can develop professionally through participation in conferences and professional meetings, through implementation of new library services, arranging exhibitions, publishing articles in specialized journals and other and thanks to these activities in accordance with certain rules and deadlines to apply for a higher title. Higher title is an opportunity for professional development, but also encouragement in the work, which is expressed by the possibility ofhigher salary.
