Summary/Abstract: Dimitrovgrad (Tsaribrod) celebrates this year 130 years of culture – 130 years of Hristo Botev Theater and 120 years of “Detko Petrov” Library. Dimitrovgrad is one of these small towns, which can boast a long and rich cultural history. It all began in the eighties of the 19th century, when the first magazines, a community center, various cultural societies appeared along with the theater. The culture of this town is part of the history of a settlement located on border territory and developing in two countries, Bulgaria and Serbia. Dimitrovgrad is the hometown of many famous cultural figures who worked in Bulgaria and Serbia, but also in other countries. Today both urban cultural institutions, Cultural Center and library, play the role of a bridge between Serbian and Bulgarian culture. The article presents basic information on the development of the city’s cultural life, with a focus on the development of the community center, today “Detko Petrov” library.
