Seven Books from the of Old and Modern Book Collection of Ramet Monastery (1837-1877). New Undertakings in Completing Evaluation and Indexing of the Collection

Summary/Abstract: This paper mainly depicts (following a quite thorough bibliographical excursus, which mirrors the current phase of research of old and modern books from Ramet), with details such as book graphics, handwritten notes jotted down on book leaves, origin or circulation of printings etc, seven copies of modern Romanian books, printed between 1837 and 1877, from the valuable collection of Ramet Monastery, Alba county. These titles are: 1. Psaltire (Psalter), Sibiu, 1837; 2. Acatistier (Book of akathists), Buzău, 1837; 3. Ceaslov (The Book of Hours), [Sibiu],[1850]; 4. Proskinitar al Sfântului Munte al Atonului sau Descrierea pe larg a sfintelor locașuri ce sânt zidite de atâtea veacuri împregiurul acestui sfânt munte... (Book of prayers with information on the holy places), București, „The printing house Nifon Mitropolitul”, in 1856; 5. Liturghii (Liturgies), Sibiu, 1856; 6. Octoih (Octoechos), Sibiu, 1861; 7. Noul Testament (The New Testament), București, 1877 colligated with Cartea Psalmilor (The Psalms), București, 1877. Through depiction of the 7 copies of printings and adjacent carried out documentations, for each of them important steps were made as for the complete indexing of more than 200 old and modern Romanian books from Ramet monastery, as everybody knows such a project is difficult and cannot be carried out in good conditions, only in successive phases, with a lot of patience.
