Application of Pressure-Status-Response approach to the problem of reducing low emissions from households in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify problems of reducing low emissions of atmospheric air pollution from households and to propose indicators for operationalization of objectives and actions. Problems and indicators are presented in the following sections on: environmental stress (threat, stress), environmental (quality) and response (preventive actions). Reducing low emissions requires above all the activity of local governments and households. Financing systems for investment projects should play a special role. They have to concern not only the houses and flats themselves, but also the power systems of electricity, gas, hot water or steam. It is also necessary to strengthen control and changes in the waste management system to prevent households using high-emission fuels and waste to heat their homes.
