Summary/Abstract: People from the contemporary media have two main issues in writing news: they do not have time to document anymore and their use of Latin words and sayings, in inappropriate contexts in order to seem literate. From media, those expressions go to Internet, and spread without any control. Studies made public in recent years have shown that some journalists do not know what does the phrases derived from Latin mean, how are they spelled or written and the context of usage. Regarding the Internet, things are even more serious, given the fact that the phrases are used by people without philological training. In what follows, we have chosen several examples of misused Latin words and few problems with their spelling, pronunciation and translation, which we encountered in print and visual media, and on the Internet, too.
