Summary/Abstract: The paper is dedicated to the environmental management system, based on ISO 14001, with a special focus on the impact of proper identification of environmental aspects on the eliminatoin of negative environmental influence, and on allowing the effective use of the held potential. Due to a complex analysis of environmental aspects and indication of main threat sources, one can determine the best methods of minimising the inflluence on environment. The article identifies environmental aspects appearing in activity consisting in receiving municipal waste as well as an environmental criterion allowing for their evaluation, which is helpful in appointing meaningful aspects.
