Summary/Abstract: This study attempts to observe the diverse discursive procedures which the candidates running for president use in order to build themselves favorable self images and legitimize their access to power. The analysis has its starting point the candidates’ discourses presented in the TV show Destination Cotroceni, and emphasizes certain discursive parameters specific rather to the populist discourse. This type of discourse may include specific themes such as belief in God, the cult of family and of the people. One also may question the success of the construction of a credible image, since it is broadcasted in a TV-show that is on the entertainment side, one that confiscates the electoral rhetoric and the action range of the candidates.
