Summary/Abstract: Remote-sensing is a technical field, which is increasingly used for studying the characteristics of Earth’s surface and for obtaining remote geospatial information without direct contact with the objectives that are detected. Systems of sensors used in remote-sensing ensure the detection, measurement and recording of electromagnetic radiation emitted or reflected by bodies located on Earth’s surface. Passive or active sensors are placed at an altitude, on satellites, balloons, aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft systems or helicopters in order to obtain the necessary information about objects or Earth surface, thus contributing to shaping an accurate image of the areas under surveillance with multiple civilian and military applications.
