Summary/Abstract: The paper is about the Getae — tribes of Thracian origins, a part of which lived for almost two centuries in the forest region of the forest steppe of the Republic of Moldova. Based on the recent archaeological researches, the monetary discoveries from this period and the written testimonies of ancient authors about Getae and Thracians in general, the author suggests a reconstruction of their everyday life in this region. A special emphasis is placed on the historical events that led to the appearance of the Getae in this territory and especially the ones related to their tragic destiny.
