Summary/Abstract: Functioning of public transport using passenger information means affects attractiveness of this type of transport. In the times of fast growing private motorisation, and caused by that – congestion, there should be actions taken towards attracting public transport to city inhabitants. Passenger, perceived by transport organizers and carriers as a client should be convinced by them to use this mode of transport. Actions are taken, which results are – enlarging number of passengers of public transport and making change in modal shift towards this form of transportation. One of the tools helping in quality and attractiveness increase are passenger information means. Their efficient functioning cause more interest in public transport and helps in being perceived by existing and potential users as an interesting form of transportation. It is important, that this tool was easy to use, functional and illegible for all passenger groups. Examples of using passenger information means in polish cities are described in the article.
