Functioning and perspectives development of air cargo in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Dynamic development of air transport enables the economic growth of a region and a country. In European countries the biggest increase can be observed in passenger transport. Freight transport is this part of the market which is more likely to be affected by economic changes than passenger transport. In comparison to other branches of transport – air transport represents only 0.1% of market share of the world freight. Statistics and forecasts do not show any changes in that matter. The information described in the article concerns air cargo. World air cargo has been described briefly, but the author has concentrated mainly on the Polish market. Basic statistics has been shown as well as investment plans concerning air infrastructure development.
