Summary/Abstract: The aim of the elaboration is the determination of the influence of demographic changes, and more precisely depopulation, on the level of delinquency in the communes of Lower Silesia voivodeship in the years 2005–2014. Most elaborations usually analyse demographic changes, including depopulation, in the economic context. Research with regard to social problems and pathologies is less frequently encountered. The reason for that is – most of all – the limited availability of the particular data. However, the phenomena mentioned also have a distinctive influence on many aspects of life. It is difficult, though, to define unequivocally if depopulation has an unambiguously negative influence on such phenomena. The decrease in population, in some authors’ view, may have positive effects manifesting themselves in the rise in the quality of life. Subsequently, the rise in the quality of life may be associated, among others, with the rise in the community safety defined as the decrease in the number of criminal offences.
