Consolidation and privatization of the public postal enterprises

Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the problem of adapting the great postal enterprises (national public operators) to the new operating conditions which are created mainly by market liberalization, its demonopolisation, deregulation, increased competition and increased importance of the buyers’ requirements. Consolidation and privatization in the postal sector are present mainly in the countries of Western Europe. Central and Eastern Europe still faces the challenge of adapting its businesses to the principles of the single market in postal services.
