Summary/Abstract: NewConnect is an innovative transactional system of alternative trading of securities in Poland, organized and established by the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Despite it is still in the early stage of development, fast enlarging groups of issuers and investors take interest of it. In practice, its raising popularity is confirmed by the significant number of IPOs, which have taken place within the first year of its functioning. The NewConnect market enables relatively quick and efficient gathering of equity by the small companies from innovative industries – especially start-ups. On the other hand this market is a destination of investments of domestic individual investors. Thanks to the specific character of the market and listed companies, the investors have possibility of gaining substantial profits within several years. However NewConnect investments carry very high risk.
