Summary/Abstract: Aim: This study has been planned with the purpose of testing the validity and reliability of “Patient empowerment measure”.Methods: This is a methodological study. The study covers patients over 18 years of age who receive long-term care services (diabetes, asthma, cholesterol, blood pressure and congenital heart disease patients) from public and private hospitals operating in Istanbul. Since the detailed statistics on the related diseases were not available, the population of this study was accepted as people over 18 years of age residing in Istanbul. A total of 661 questionnaires were evaluated in this study. The data collected using “Patient empowerment measure” developed by Small et al. (2013). The scale has been tested in terms of language validity, scope validity, and internal consistency at the validity and reliability stage method.Results: According to statistical analyses, the reliability of internal consistency was determined as 0,920. It was determined that the “Patient empowerment measure” was composed of 37 items and 5 sub-dimensions.Conclusion: At the end of the analyses, it has been found out that "Patient Empowerment Scale" is a valid and reliable scale to be applied on patients who require long-term care in Turkey
