Summary/Abstract: The New Year’s Eve premiere of the Transylvanian theatres has an outstanding importance from the perspective of the community as well, since there is a preference mainly for the popular entertaining genres, but accomplished in productions of varying qualitative levels. The art-theatre conception of the Sf-Gheorghe theatre is somewhat far from the tradition of light entertainment, so the New Year’s Eve performance is usually an organic part of the repertoire on account of its exigency, writes Erika Fám in her review. However, Brawling in Chioggia directed by Sardar Tagirovsky is not without faults: it relies excessively and gratuitously on music, on the Italian hits of the 1970s and ’80s while it fails to reveal the depths of the comedy.
