Summary/Abstract: The study deals with an often neglected segment of the popular culture, the video games,presenting its positive features, and underlining the phenomenon of escapism connected to it. The study is based on an American research that defined different types of players, and presents a survey made on Hungarian players. By analyzing the different types of players also reveals certain differences between the choices made by American and Eastern European players. The study is apart of my BA thesis written with the guidance of Vallasek Júlia PhD as supervisor.
