Selected factors driving claims for liability insurance of motorists in the years 2007–2016

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the study is to evaluate selected factors shaping motor vehicle liability insurance claims. The research method was the analysis of selected facts related to: road accidents, compensation and benefits paid by insurers for civil liability of motor vehicle owners, results of technical activity and claims for gross premiums received by insurers, followed by the synthesis of conclusions obtained from the analysis and allowing for the evaluation of these selected factors shaping claims for civil liability of motor vehicle owners. The publication also outlines the implications of the Supreme Court’s 2016 resolution which forces insurers to bear the costs of treatment and rehabilitation of victims also in cases of the victim using a private or foreign medical facility.
