Summary/Abstract: Contemporary medicine was built on a series of traditions and superstitions which influenced its development. Revisiting the roots of folk medicine, we can understand many things about the way medicine has evolved and how healers and physicians tried to offer effective treatments to people, despite the underdeveloped instruments and techniques they had at their disposal.
