Summary/Abstract: Economic science is a problematic area of research with regard to its variability in time and space and the breadth of research scope. Due to this fact, it is imperative that researchers remain circumspect, especially when drawing conclusions and making generalisations. In practice, research papers accepted as scientific ones often fail to meet the epistemological standards of scientific work. This is especially the case with inexperienced researchers. The purpose of the study is to contribute to the discussion of the scholarly character and refinement of scientific papers from the field of economics. The present analysis is an attempt to verify the thesis that a significant proportion of working papers released in joint publications are written without conversance with, or with disregard of, the canons of scientific cognition. To this end, an overview of working papers reviewed by B. Poskrobko in 2012-2015 for eight publishers (altogether 137 papers) is presented. On this basis, identified are the most prevalent errors, substantive as well as formal ones, which adversely affect the quality of scientific papers.
