Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the beginnings, history and contemporary function of names for the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ in Slavic languages. Particular attention is given to the Russian name Великдень and the Polish name Wielkanoc. The author conducts an in-depth comparison of both names in their linguistic and cultural aspects and attempts to find reasons for the difference in terminology.
