Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the concept of strategic management in the rural tourism sector. It presents the assumptions and methodology of this concept in the formulation of tourism development strategies in rural areas. It shows a relational and network approach in the development of the tourism product against the background of building distinctive regional competences. An example of practical use of the concept of strategic management in the development of rural tourism in the Wielkopolska voivodship is presented.
