Summary/Abstract: The family plays an important role in the life of every human being, as well as for persons serving imprisonment. Provides them valuable support during this difficult period. It is important that the family actively participate in the rehabilitation of the convicted. For this it is necessary to cooperate with employees of the Prison Service.Many prisoners are interested in a good relationship with their relatives. Thanks to this, they have the feeling that, despite the mistakes they made, there are people for whom it is worth changing their behavior. The family motivates the prisoner to reflect on his life and to work on himself. What is more, relatives can help to prevent him from returningto the criminal path again. In penitentiary are various forms of contact with relatives. The most valuable for both parties are direct meetings of the prisoner withthe family, such as visits or passes. They are a chance to participate, to some extent, inthe life of the family. The prison staff undertakes a number of activities aimed at caringfor the family relations of persons serving the penalty of deprivation of liberty.The prison changes both – the family and the prisoner. This situation reorganizes theentire system of family functioning. It affects the relationship and is a challenge for the durability of emotional ties, among others, on which the rehabilitation success and return of the convict to the society depend.
