Summary/Abstract: Most of the historical works on the Ottoman Empire, both Turkish and Western provenances, generalize the fact that science in that state was confined to traditional Islamic conceptions, which the doctrine of faith was considered to be the only real knowledge. However, this largely rooted conclusion can not be fully linked to the rule of all Ottoman sultans. Therefore, in this paper, we will try to at least partially illuminate the development of science and culture in the Ottoman Empire at the time of one of the most prominent Sultan, Mehmed Fatih.
