Summary/Abstract: In contemporary economic reality, a company’s technological developmentseems to be a necessary condition for its market success, thus it needs to be achieved.Although in an increasing amount of cases it is ensured by transferring ready-made solutionsfrom external sources, its level is historically determined by the company’s internalinvolvement in improving its absorptive capacity and technological portfolio. It thusdoes not depend only on managers’ aspirations at a given moment or the company’s financialsituation, but on the extent of direct or indirect investments in its technologicalpotential made so far. It turns out that lack of such investments in the past may inhibitdesired development in the future.In this study, based on a survey results, the author makes an attempt to evaluate theinfluence of the modernity level of the technological portfolio of finance companiesoperating in Poland on the further development of their technological capacities ensuredby means of transfer. The obtained findings confirm that the technological developmentin the finance companies’ sector occurs in accordance with the path dependenceconcept, according to which the possessed knowledge and technological assets determinethe possibilities for developing and enriching them in the future.
