Factors forming national identity in Wincenty Pol’s works

Summary/Abstract: In the light of Wincenty Pol’s prose and poetic works the author has established a list of factors forming national Polish identity. They include the following: territory inhabited by the nation, geographical and cultural names, language and tradition. These factors determine national self-awareness and preserve remembrance. Wincenty Pol treated literature and science as a service to Poland and a way of awakening patriotism.
