Scandalization as the way to fight for values

Summary/Abstract: The article describes scandalization mechanism, which may be active in discussions on values and other questions. It involves an association of a particular event with crime, horror and negative anticipation. Scandalization is also manifested by a visual exaggeration, hate speech, incivility and the lack of respect in discussions. The 2016 abortion debate in Poland has been analyzed to define the mechanisms.
