Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to attempt to assess the role of culture in international relations, in particular in creating the soft power of the state. The article presents a review of the literature on the subject being a context for the analyzed problem, the impact of cultural exports on building soft power and verification of considerations regarding the importance of exports of cultural heritage in creating China’s soft power. It has been observed that culture is an inseparable element of many aspects of international relations. The export of culture, creating experiences with consumers of cultural products, is a widely recognized tool for building the image of the state , national brand and soft power. It was found that the attractiveness of culture is not always enough to effectively create a soft power. Culture must be part of a coherent system of elements that positively influence soft power. In addition, the subjectivity of receiving cultural products and the progressive unification of culture were also recognized as an potential obstacle.
