Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to assess the impact of FTA between the EU and MERCOSUR on Polish agri-food trade. The article analyzes Poland’s agri-food trade with the MERCOSUR countries, identifies barriers in mutual trade and discusses the most important problems arising during the negotiations. Studies have shown that MERCOSUR is the main non-EU market in terms of Polish agri-food imports, but is of marginal importance in the export of these products. Trade exchange of agri-food products is the main sensitive point of negotiation, especially in the context of beef and poultry, ethanol and sugar. The increase in EU imports from MERCOSUR may pose a threat to Polish producers of beef and poultry. However, marginal exports limited mainly to confectionery products may indicate unused opportunities for the development of Polish exports to Common Southern Market (eg. for dairy products or beverages).
