Summary/Abstract: The article presents methodological guidelines based on three years ’ experimental work with students in secondary school related to understanding text as a cohesive and coherent unity. The linguistic cognitive and linguistic pragmatic goals of the suggested system are presented. Different models of synthetic exercises, which are meaningful in learning the polyfunctionality of parts of speech in a text are proposed and described. The good features of suggested educational models are summarized in order to improve the communicative (textual) competence of the students.
