Summary/Abstract: Psychosocial adaptation to chronic illness involve a mixture of variables from the physiological affective, cognitive and behavioral domains. Recent re¬searches focus on successful experience link to the psychosocial adaptation process (Liven et al, 2004). The aim of the present paper is to review the theo¬retical approaches and empirical data from researches on the associations between social support, health locus of control and psychological adjustment to chronic illness. Knowledge of the impact, limitations, and mechanisms of social support for various patients leads to more accurate psychosocial assessments and bet¬ter treatment plans (Roberts et al, 1994). Many researchers over the past few decades postulation that social support essentially predicts the outcome of physical and mental health for everyone (Corey, 2006). The health locus of control is identified as an important psychological construct and crucial moderator and mediator within a variety of domains of health.
