Summary/Abstract: Aim: The article present data to obtained about smoking as a part of secondary prevention in patients with atherosclerosis of lower limb vessels in relationship with rehospitalisation. Methods: The sample consisted of 141 patients in hospitals. A non-standardized questionnaire was used to collect the data. The evaluation of the data was carried out by descriptive and inductive statistics. Results: The sample consisted of 111 smokers, of which the diagnosis of disease, 27 patients stopped smoking. The less negative effect of "light cigarettes" is believed by 63 smokers. In our sample, it was significantly confirmed that patients who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day are more likely to be hospitalized than non-smokers or patients who have stopped smoking. Conclusion: The results indicate the possibility of effective secondary smoking prevention in connection with a reduced number of repeated hospitalizations in patients with lower limb atherosclerosis.
