Summary/Abstract: Modern societies encounter a number of persistent social problems, symptoms of which are becoming more apparent over time. One of these issues is fear of crime, which has recently started to draw more attention in societies. The fear of crime, briefly defined as the fear of being a victim of any crime, may have adverse physical and psychological effects on individuals, while it weakens social relations and damages social order. Presuming that one of the critical impacts of the fear of crime is reducing one's life satisfaction, this study has been carried out with 800 participants living in Mersin. The findings of the study correspond to the literature and have demonstrated that the level of fear of crime is significantly high in Mersin. On the other hand, the participants have an average life-satisfaction level. And there is no meaningful relationship between the fear of crime and life satisfaction.
