Summary/Abstract: Culture is the changing, developing way of living together with the society’s opinion, belief and values each period. One branch of knitting craft which is the oldest and most important parts of our traditional culture is hand-knitting. It is seen that hand-knitting is mostly common among urban women since the materials are cheap, can be supplied easily and knitting can be done anywhere. Among the knitted goods such as household goods, dowry and clothes that are done for the spare time activity or for providing economical income for the family, women prefer mostly to knit bootees. In other words hand-knitted bootees reflect the cultural structure and the aesthetical appeal of the society. Thus, this paper intends to explain motifs on 30 needle knitted bootees found during an ethnographic field research in the central villages of Adıyaman city.
