Summary/Abstract: The objectives of this study focus on two benchmarks: the behaviour of Romanian women workers on the job and the behaviour of their employer. The working assumption considers the following statement: the lack of trust in local authorities and of actual involvement to solve the problems dissuades Romanian women workers in Sicily from turning in their aggressive employers. The research is based on press materials published over the period 2014–2015. The approach content analysis and qualitative analyses of narrative discourse and monitoring how cases are reported, emphasizing the use of stereotypes used by journalists when referring to the situation of Romanian migrant women and their Sicilian employers and to the impact of the press stories on local institutions in Italy.
