Summary/Abstract: The end of the First World War and the work carried out by the Romanian intellectuals made radical changes within the Romanian society in the autumn of 1918. Then, Arad was the political center for the Romanians living in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the place where the Romanian-Hungarian negotiations took place and where the Central Romanian National Council was active and decided to convene the Great National Assembly of Alba Iulia. In this context, popular assemblies were organized and official delegates were elected, representing the Romanian population in Alba Iulia, where the unanimous decision was made to unite Transylvania with Romania. This study analyzes the socio-professional composition of the delegates elected to represent the Arad county at the Great National Assembly in Alba Iulia.
