Summary/Abstract: European culture has its origins in the Balkan Peninsula, where most of the cultures of Europe developed: Greek, Thracian, Latin and Byzantine. Even the term Europe reminds us of a province-through to reach Constantinople. In the peninsula were preserved numerous monuments reminiscent of Byzantine art and architecture that has spread to the Catholic world. In the Balkans leading intellectuals have worked: Theophilus Corydaleu or Stefan Stratimirovic that became important figures of European culture.
