Summary/Abstract: The multiplication of various dimensions of social life favours the development of the processes of marginalization concerning both: a person and social groups. This phenomenon has a close connection with adult education, which, according to Tadeusz Kowalak is the key to weaken and finally, to eliminate the phenomenon of marginalization of individuals and social groups (Kowalak: 1998,206). The complexity of the phenomenon of marginalization makes it difficult to identify and examine the causes, effects and possible ways of this problem. The analysis of the relationship between education of the examined adults and marginalization gives us the possibility to explore the essence of this phenomenon at a school for adults, where the study was conducted. The concept given in the article is that adult education gives them the opportunity to marry their marginal groups and to function normally in society. The reference to the survey data does not serve as a basis for drawing conclusions for the whole population because the study was based on a group of 58 randomly selected students attending the school for adults. This study is representative for the institution in which it was carried out.
