LEXICOGRAPHIC PROCESSING OF PARTICIPLES IN THE DICTIONARY OF THE SLAVOSERBIAN LANGUAGE

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a series of possibilities as well as problems concerning the lexicographical processing of participles in historical dictionaries. Since participles in the texts written in Slavoserbian occur as real participles, as adjectives and as gerunds, we think that all the forms in which former participles occur should be processed as separate entries, separating different meanings (i.e. uses) of these forms by numbers. We think that all forms where former participles occur should be noted as separate entries because such an approach would give us an insight into the change of the participle system and a complete view of its use in the texts written in the Slavoserbian language. This kind of an approach would make locating unknown (participle) forms easier even for those readers who do not deal with the history of language.
