Summary/Abstract: Novica Tadic’s polemic relationship towards Baudelaire is being analysed. Analysis of Tadic’s verses shows that Serbian poet disownes from explicit ethical denial of the city, that is characteristic in poetry of romanticsm, but at the same time from Baudelaire’s aestethic justification of the city.Tadic’s polemically relates to Baudelaire’s constitution of poetic subject that evolves through the view which singles out urban figures from the city mass, in other words via transforming masses into a landscape. In such way Tadic creates a mimic unification of poetic city with grotesque picture of demonic city. Overstating the demonic, Tadic’s poetry achieves ethical distance from an urban space as a synecdoche of modern civilization.
