Summary/Abstract: The survey of folk poems which were reprinted from Vuk Karadžic’s books, his journal Danica and the magazine Kovčežić in the Serbian periodicals (newspapers, magazines, almanacs, journals and calendars), chrestomathies and textbooks till 1864 sheds light on the phenomenon of the literary, reciprocal influence of folk poetry, the return of the folk poems among the people. Relatively small number of Vuk’s poems which were reprinted two or more times led to the spreading of epic poems about certain historical events and heroes, as well as to the spreading of the lyrical poems from specific thematic-motive circles. This process also influenced the additions in the repertoire of the chanters, the creation of numerous variants, even the "second-hand” poems, the ”new folk poetry”, including the creation of plagiarisms. In the context of the reception of Vuk's folk poems, the reprinted poems testify about the poetics of the reading public (with the broad use of the term folk poem, which also included urban poems passed on by singing), about the link between periodicals and specific kinds of oral poetry, about how folk poetry, particularly in the fifth decade of the 19th century, essentially initiated a new, folk trend in the Serbian literature.
